Letter to The Editor,
I am writing this in Brussels, there being a break in my committee - employment. We were debating the issue of, 'economic and budgetary surveillance of EU countries which have uncertain financial stability', plus, 'monitoring national budgets'. Then we get to debate applications of the 'Globalisation Fund', that's more money to help workers when companies relocate to another country.
So, at a time of financial trouble, with the Government cutting spending and/or raising tax levels, we propose to send yet more money to the EU. Are we raising taxes on tobacco, alcohol and petrol just to find the cash to send to the EU?
