To reply to Graham Jordan's letter of June 6, yes, there is a 'con' over wind turbines, an enormous one.
 
First, landowners who opt to have these things receive funding - subsidies or rent. With the newer three KW turbines at £40,000 per annum private landowners, altogether, will receive £1 billion per annum.  So, in Northamptonshire the Duke of Gloucester will get £120,000 pa, while Sir Reginald Sheffield, the Prime Minister's father-in-law, stands to receive some £250,000 pa and all they have to do is to sign the papers. Remember, that is in excess of the cost of these turbines, about £300,000 each.
 
As to the allegation that I have my figures wrong about the output I do indeed have a science background. That is why the figures quoted in my letter are not my own. I did what any scientist does and consulted scientists and engineers who work in this field.
 
As to it being a 'con' just see the Sunday newspapers this week, with further reports from experts, following hundreds of scientists, that there is no global warming. The EU latched onto hysterical productions like the Al Gore film and the highly inaccurate Stern Report to promote global warming. Being themselves bereft of ideas and of expertise EU leaders needed a dramatic issue to promote the EU. What better than this, which they have turned into a creed, trotted out in practically every major speech in the House, I know, I listen to them!
