Sixth-formers to give politicians a grilling at debate
SIXTH-FORMERS at a Derby school are to host a Question Time-style debate, tackling local and national issues.
More than 50 pupils and teachers are expected to attend the event tomorrow at Chellaston School.
A panel of local politicians, plus head teacher Ray Ruszczynski, will answer questions posed by the audience in the hour-long session in the school's performing arts studio from 4pm.
The debate has been organised by sixth formers Lee Allen and Matthew Whiteside, who also run the school's radio station.
Lee, 17, the station's main presenter, will chair the event.
He said: "This show will present an unrivalled chance for pupils and teachers to interact with politicians. It should be a great experience."
Expected to attend are Mark Todd, Labour MP for South Derbyshire, Derek Clark, UKIP MEP, plus Matthew Holmes, Conservative councillor for the Chellaston ward of Derby City Council.
