The Editor,
Dear Sir,
Your readers have every right to be concerned about fears East Midlands Ambulance Service could close stations in our county.
I have been campaigning about the gradual merger of ambulance services across the East Midlands for many years.
It appears my fears about further cutbacks and mergers were well-founded.
It stands to reason response times will get worse if existing ambulance stations are closed and so-called 'regional hubs' are created across the East Midlands.
I know how difficult it can be trying to cover a region as large and diverse as the East Midlands and I would urge the powers-that-be not to adopt these proposals.
In fact, reverse them altogether and let us have local ambulance services for local people - it's what we expect and deserve.
Yours sincerely,
Derek Clark ,UKIP MEP for Northamptonshire
